Why traditional books summaries tend to miss important information?

Traditional book summaries don’t solve the missing information problem.

Traditional book summaries may be more concise, but they tend to miss important information. Think about it, whoever is in charge of summarizing the book, is just as distracted by the noise, making them miss the same important information along the way.

Here is an example. Let`s assume you summarize a book the traditional way. A typical book summary process might look as follows: you read page 1, you summarize the important notes. You flip to page 2, and you summarize the important notes. You flip to page 3, and you summarize the important notes again. And this process goes on and on until you reach the last page of a book (typically hundreds of pages).

Based on our research, a typical book can have more than 100 cases of “noise” scattered in random places. So at some point, your attention will definitely get distracted, and you will miss important information from the book you summarize. Flipping a page one by one and taking notes is just not a good enough solution to handle the tremendous noise in a book.
